    In honour of the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence, the Canadian Polish Congress - Regional Branch Quebec, together with other Polish organizations, organized a commemorative celebration.

    The celebration program included dances performed by the Polish dancing ensembles, "The White Eagle Academy" and "Tatry," reciting patriotic poems, and theatre performance on the theme of independence staged by the children of the John Paul II Polish school.

     

    Commemorative speeches were given and wishes for the Polish Canadians were extended by Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Montreal, Dariusz Wiśniewski, Member of the Canadian Federal Parliament, David Lametti (who read out a letter written by the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau) as well as Special Advisor of the Prime Minister of Canada for Cooperation with Ethnic Organizations, Norair Serengulian.

     

    The celebration was accompanied by an exhibition on the theme of independence entitled "Roads to Independence", as well as a display of artworks made by school children who participated in the art competition on the theme of Poland regaining its independence.
