    Professor Marek Kornat is a Polish historian, specialist in Soviet history and contemporary history. Kornat's areas of interest include the history of diplomacy and international relations in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Polish foreign policy in 1918-1945, history of the Polish and Western Soviet thought as well as history of Polish historiography. Professor Kornat is the chair of the Department of the History of the Twentieth Century at the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences, professor at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University, and a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He has written seven monographs, edited (or co-edited) several collective publications and source publications as well as over two hundred articles and about thirty reviews. Kornat has also been awarded many national prizes and is a prominent specialist of the history of Polish diplomacy.

     

    Professor Kornat has been invited by the Consulates of the Republic of Poland in Toronto and Montreal, the section of Polish Studies at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Toronto, as well as the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Cracow.
